So far the weekend has been very productive. It's so nice to have a little extra time to create. The latest addition to the charming ink zazzle shop is this Watercolor Chevron Invitation. Hope someone out there in the blogosphere enjoys it.
Upcycled stuff made from stuff
I like the work of Alan Young in his Etsy shop pixelthis. His specialty is clocks made from upcycled bikes, turntables and more.
Online design classes
Have you ever wanted to learn Illustrator or Photoshop without committing to several years in an art institute or college? Not that I'm knocking the college route as that's where I put in my blood, sweat and tears to call myself a graphic designer, but everyone simply doesn't have that kind of opportunity. There are some excellent free and paid tutorials at Nicole's Classes that will teach you solid skills for using these professional level applications.
I totally agree
I'm in total agreement with the words of wisdom on this art print—"stressed is desserts spelt backwards." You can find this print and more at RockTheCustardPrints.
New chevron business card templates
There's a new business card template in the charming ink shop. This simple chevron business card design is suitable for a number of business or just a personal calling card. You can customize the fonts and text to your liking.
New collage pieces
I've been working on some new collage pieces and I've switched from the Matte ModPodge product to Acrylic Matte Gel Medium. I think it just comes down to personal preference with the materials. I don't have anything against the ModgePodge mind you, I just like the "feel" of the gel medium better. I'm also experimenting with laminate paneling in this new series of collages. We got a huge piece at Lowe's which my hubby cut into multiple boards so I can create again. Flight of Fancy and Curtain Call can be found in my Etsy shop should you feel the need to adopt them.
Type designer Steve Matteson
If you've ever used a computer or digital device, you've probably seen the work of type designer Steve Matteson. There's a great interview with him over at MyFonts. One of his most recent projects is the family of fonts for Droid devices. I admire typography artists greatly. I remember one of our most grueling projects in college was to design an entire font. Back in the day you had to do it all by hand. A illustration board, french curves, t-square and pen and ink.
