There's a lot of ruckus going on about the seasonal Holiday Coca-Cola cans that are on shelves this year. Now first let me say I agree with the backlash against "New Coke"—that was simply a disaster and if you have a wildly successful brand, you really don't need to change it for the sake of change. I think the funniest news item I saw was that some consumers were "confused" by the graphic. Maybe the "ruckus" was just a brilliantly staged marketing ploy to sell more soda. Still, speaking strictly design—I think the graphic is simple, elegant and striking.
Funny Friday Feline
Okay, I know this is off-topic, but I had to post this image. While visiting family a while back, we walked over to my stepsister's place and her beautiful cat "Powder" was taking his siesta in the sun. He sauntered over, sat up on his hind legs like a dog and proceeded to meow at a us to pet him. I figured when we reached down, he'd drop to all fours and let us stroke him, but no—he stayed upright the whole time. Too cute. I'm a sucker for fuzzy mammals.

Ode to Cheerwine
I haven't had a Cheerwine in quite some time, so when I imbibed earlier this week I was impressed with the packaging design. Fun, bubbly with a nod to retro and a special detail that really caught my attention. The cherry red tab on top. Nice.
