Fun! These funky wall lamps are cast in plaster from the artist's own hand. Check out more of Kara Gunter's work at her Etsy shop.
IDEA Design Collection
IDEA International has some really creative designs. My two current favs are the cake clock, inspired by a rice paper motif and the hairglasses. I'm totally guilty of using my sunglasses as a headband, so I personally find these hilarous.
Cameos
Anyone else like cameos? I've been attracted to them since I was a little girl. My mom had a lapel stickpin with a pale peach and ivory cameo of a woman's profile that I was fascinated with. Here are some fun pieces from Etsy shops:
1. Carved high relief cameo brooch or pendant from leesasimpson
2. Lolita skeleton cameo necklace by sssj
3. Apple green cameo necklace by heathernn1
Pardon the silence
I haven't dropped off the face of the earth. I've just been so disturbed by the recent events in Norway that it's been difficult to wrap my head around writing about things that seem so frivilous when thinking about the unimaginable pain those families are going through. Postings will reappear. More hope, more love ...
Friday Flowers — a bevy of bouquets
I just found out a friend is getting married and it started my wheels turning about alternatives to fresh bouquets. The heat is so intense this summer anything fresh would wilt in minutes. Here are three lovelies from Etsy:
Top left: Felt rose bridal bouquet (pick your colors) from handmadecolectibles
Bottom left: Peaches and tangerines satin, jewels and pearl flower bouqet from solbijou
Right: Custom paper flower wedding bouquet from poshstudios
Upcycled filmstrip bracelet
Wow. This upcycled filmstrip bracelet is really inspired. They are handmade to order over at the Etsy shop of bethtastic. She creates them from film negatives that are cast in resin so no two are exactly alike. What a great gift idea for the shutterbug in your life.
