This pretty wrought iron bench looked so inviting that I had to shoot it. I really need to find some real furniture for the patio. The card table just isn't cutting it. I do wonder what people think when they see me shooting random things with my iPhone.
Sweets at Sucré
© photos by lachelle via
I recently had the pleasure of sampling the delights at Sucré while on a photo shoot in New Orleans. Their sweets are handmade and they use local ingredients whenever possible. The presentation of the confections and attention to detail are meticulous. I mean just look at those charming 4-color letterpress coasters! Don't fret if you can't get to New Orleans—they ship to addresses in the continental U.S.!

The Quatrefoil. It's so 1400.
The quartrefoil shape is defined as "four leaves" and has been used as a decorative and symbolic motif for centuries. Most associated with Gothic and Renaissance architecture, the quaterfoil has seen a resurgence in popularity. Here are a few instances that I particularly like:
1. Quatrefoil Headboard from Horchow
2. Paul Morelli Pearl & Diamond Quatrefoil Earclips
3. Quatrefoil Wallpaper from Seabrook
4. DIY Upcycled Quatrefoil Dresser from Kreative Knack
Friday font featuring Jonny Wan

Today's Friday font isn't free, but rather an appreciation post for an illustrator I admire. It's a personal project by illustrator and designer Jonny Wan. He created an entire alphabet as an excercise in manipulating typography to match his illustration style. Charming.
Teeny, tiny locket paintings
Khara Ledonne creates miniature hand-painted scenes inside lockets. Each one is created using oil enamels and a very small brush. Aren't they lovely?
Upcycled Pillow Headboard
Check out the tutorial over at Flippin' Factory for this upcycled pillow headboard. Oh, and the buttons on the pillows are fabric-covered baby food jar lids! Blogger Tumaini sums up her philosophy as "Minimizing waste by maximizing creativity."
Be sure to check out the sidebar on the right side of the blog. There's an excellent list of upcycled furniture retailers listed by state.
