Actually he's called Leviathan. Had the pleasure of working with this float at Mardis Gras World photo shoot in New Orleans last week.
Airport art
Interesting glass sculpture in the heart of terminal D at DFW (Dallas). Even though it's blue, I'm reminded of the Emerald City in Oz. There are pathways throughout the piece so you can view from within as well as without.
Jennifer Burke pottery
We attended the Art Walk in downtown McKinney last weekend and saw some wonderful artists and craftspeople. In my quest to buy handmade whenever possible, a new coffee cup was purchased from Jennifer Burke. It is my new best friend, lovingly holding my coffee in the mornings. I think it even tastes better out of this cup. I especially like the detail on the top of the handle where my thumb rests. Jennifer also teaches at the McKinney Art House.
Beautiful leather bag for bikes
flux productions
Via Design Sponge. If you have an old-school bike with a straight bar frame, this leather bicycle bag is a beauty. Flux Productions in Brooklyn is the creator and the handy snap strap keeps the bag from swinging while you're in motion. The size is 10x9x1.5 and they have some very cool leather cuff bracelets as well.
New "from the kitchen of" label sizes
Like making handmade goodies, but want to dress up your gifts in nice packaging instead of putting them in old butter tubs? I thought so. I can't help with the container, but you can put a snazzy custom label on your culinary creations so people will want to, you know, eat it. Nobody likes mystery food. Well, some people do, but they scare me.
Retiro Park in Madrid
The Jardines del Retiro de Madrid (Garden of the Pleasant Retreat) are an incredible example of garden and landscaping design. Started in the late 1500's the gardens are one of the most popular desinations in Madrid for locals and tourists alike. These trees in particular fascinated me. They look like something out of a Dr. Seuss story.
Bakery goodies in Madrid
Wandered through some travel photos this weekend from past trips and came across this one from our trip to Madrid. I come to a dead stop when I encounter pastry (it's very dangerous for people walking behind me) and this instance was no differnt. Those towering meringues on the second shelf are what initially caught my eye.
