Organization. It's critical to staying on track in business and pretty much every other aspect of life. One area I fall down in is balanced, nutritious lunches. Anyone else hate stopping work to prepare a meal? When you're in the design groove or working through creative inspiration it's hard to put the brakes on and you probably find yourself skipping lunch or grabbing a granola bar and then slumping in energy in the afternoon. Planning helps keep you on track and producing better work if you're taking good care of your health. Here's a freebie download for a weekly lunch planner to help keep you organized and motivated. It even has extra margin space for three-hole punching if you're a binder person. Bon appetit.

The latest Mood Board
The past couple of Wedding Wednesday mood boards for Nan Lee Jewelry were fun to put together. The theme was a play off of 50 shades of gray and how beautifully this neutral color works in lieu of the more common black and white.
Modern Blush Stripes Wedding Collection
There's a new wedding collection — Modern Blush Stripes. It's a clean and modern design with painted blush pink stripes and has several coordinating items. In addition to the invitation, RSVP, stamps and belly band there are also reception items and wedding party gifts. Did you know you can order sugar or shortbread cookies that are personalized and match the invitations? Coasters and cocktail napkins are also options for this design. Pink not your thing? I love New York
I know it's been quiet on the blog this week. I've been in New York with Nan and Shelli soaking up the city. I lived there for a few years and the trip was full of nostalgia. Many things were the same, but there were also some big changes in the city. The taxis are now quiet hybrids and Times Square looks more like Tokyo, but thankfully Radio City Music Hall is still its grand old self. The 24 hour diners are great and the shopping is best on the lower east side if you want indie and boutique offerings. Overall the trip has left me wondering why I stayed away for so long!
Brand Refresh | Daugherty + Barron Real Estate
Sometimes businesses are looking for a Brand Refresh rather than a complete overhaul. This often makes sense if a business has a loyal customer base they don't want to alienate by completely changing their image. Daugherty & Barron was just such a client. They were not unhappy with their existing brand, but felt it could be more polished.
OLD LOGO
NEW LOGO
The first thing we discussed is that the actual name of the company "Daugherty & Barron" was not a part of the logo. Other refinements included making the d & b more symmetrical, mirroring each other as the two principal owners are indeed sisters. The + symbol was also a little vague – was it a cross? Turns out that it was and so we decided to make that more apparent. The pale blue also didn't have a lot of impact, so a stronger blue leaning more toward turquoise gives the logo more contrast and creates a more memorable color palette.
The website actually did get a complete overhaul. Before it resided as a free Blogger site that was very bare bones. D+B wanted a more robust and capable site that they and their agents could easily update themselves. Squarespace was the platform of choice and my personal favorite if a client wants a DIY solution for maintenance.
Free Font Friday
This week only at Creative Market you can get the font Rude Cookie for free. Rustic, charming and it even comes with some bonus flourishes. Now a much needed review of font management software is needed as my library is growing exponentially.
